Ongoing Activity and Milestones:
2015 – Improved energy standards introduced, Section 6 (energy) – emissions reduced by 45% for new dwellings and 60% for new non-domestic buildings compared to 2007 standards; proportionate improvement for work to existing buildings. These standards can be accessed here.
2017-19 – Enabling work for a review of the energy standards of the building regulations will commence in 2017. The outcome of this review may lead to the introduction of further regulations in force from 2020.
2019-21 – Article 9 of Directive 2010/31/EU for new buildings to be ‘Nearly Zero Energy’ applies – proposal is to investigate and address through review of building regulations.
