Implementation Lead(s): Firth of Forth Group; Scottish Natural Heritage; Scottish Government
Locations: Firth of Forth and associated coastal area.
The Firth of Forth group is comprised of representatives of planning authorities around the Forth, SNH and the Scottish Government. The group has worked together to develop tools and working practices to share work and understanding of impacts on the Firth of Forth SPA.
Environmental Mitigation: Identifying opportunities for habitat improvements will require a joined up approach to identifying the right locations based on sound evidence.
Ongoing Activity and Milestones:
2014 – Firth of Forth Group to meet and consider how it can evolve its role and membership to inform a more co-ordinated approach to environmental and habitat improvements.
2014 – December – The Firth of Forth Habitats Regulations Appraisal collaboration planners group met. Some existing workstreams aimed at future enhancement of habitats and the biodiversity of the estuary have been identified. The appropriate delivery mechanism and partnerships now need to be identified.
A Guide to help developers and regulators to meet the requirements of the Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) on the Firth of Forth was published by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) in May 2016.
