Ongoing Activity and Milestones:
The Programme for Government announcement in September 2015 outlined plans to take forward the establishment of an Enterprise Area at BioCity in Newhouse, North Lanarkshire as well as extending the timescale for all existing Enterprise Areas by three years to 2020. The planning protocols which have worked well in the other Enterprise Area sites have been updated by North Lanarkshire Council and a Strategic Environmental Assessment was submitted prior to designation of BioCity in April 2016.
As of October 2018 there were 118 businesses located on an Enterprise Area, 90 having located since Enterprise Area designation in April 2012. These companies employ 3,225 people, 2,687 of these jobs being established on Enterprise Area sites post designation.
